In The Shield they mention two ways to beat a lie detector - 1 is with Vicodin, the other is mental "substitution". When asked a question that you want to lie "no" to, you need to pretend/imagine that the interviewer asked a different question with a true answer of no, and then answer that.

There was an episode of 'the Bill' the British series where a guy was trying to avoid a lie detector with the thumbtac thing, the police were on to him, they pretended they couldn't find a room to do the test in and made him walk around the whole station. If the tv cops can think up something like that don't you think the real cops can?

Yes Chemda I do love you. Then again you must have at least a couple hundred thousand suitors, I don't like my chances. Plus Keith has a good hold on you. Can't wait for April 15th.
