I don't entirely know what you mean here. Not to discount all the fine hospitality that Keith & Chemda have shown me, but giving me a fucking towel is a far cry from paying my New York rent. If I couldn't make it on my own in the U.S., I would not have come.

I'd like nothing more than to be a kept man, but nobody around here is rich enough for that. I really had to bust my balls to afford this move. The kindness of friends and acquaintances doesn't hurt, but it's certainly no deal maker.

I don't mean to sound like such a hater. I do reckon you can make it there (if so, you can make it anywhere, right?). Anyway, do remain independent as much as you can, because history shows that if a regular is seen as taking more than they are giving, K&C have no qualms about cutting them off.

BTW, my suggestion for staying in the US is to become a student at a dodgy semi-university and get a visa that way, and make your film under the guise of a 'student-project'. Otherwise, next time you go through the border they will drill you as to how you were able to get by for so long "without working".
