You know, I just never could get into Pantera. I don't know what the deal is.

But that's another good mention, Megadeth. As much as I like Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning, Rust in Peace is godly. Megadeth also gets more points because they're still making great music, as opposed to dogshit.

I don't care for the glam rock either.

You got it.

Is it me, or is Dio making or has made a comeback? I seem to hear it a lot on the local rock stations here. I don't know if it's being done as a joke or if they really like them. (Specifically 89X out of Windsor)

If I had a few more years on me I think I'd be right there with Keith, but I came into the fold just after that era. It was Anthrax & Megadeth for me. Keith also mentioned that he didn't really see any music videos until after he moved out of his parents house, so those insane videos weren't part of the equation. Just whatever liner art came with the cassette.

Yeah, that pisses me off that some people automatically assume it's from drugs or alcohol or something. He's got a disease and it isn't alcoholism.

BTW, I still think the most underrated band of that era was Slade. Some of the best songwriting that is still being covered today.

slade rules

of course the bc rich is a joke

one of the bands in my home town played all bc rich warlocks

i cant get down with megadeth
the lyrics to symphony of destruction are laughable
but many of the bands at the time's lyrics are

i liked metallica for a few reasons, i think they were advanced lyrically, (subverse political stuff without being preachy or cute) and attitude wise
i like that there is a backlash against every metallica record upon release of the next one and they always have had the same punk rock fuck you attitude about it
i also like how heavy metallica was
harvester of sorrow or any of master

true i have heard of trans siberian-- i just think its kinda silly

anthrax was cool -- a little too much meeting up to play basketball kind of metal dude but they could play

at least most of these bands didnt look like the women they fucked

I actually don't much care for Symphony of Destruction. It lacks the heaviness of Youthanasia, and the complexity of Rust in Peace or Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?

Metallica is better lyrically, but I only ever care about guitars.

down here in dc, mastodon is really getting a big rise in their followers. i think they are pretty good, but i prefer the so-called 'hippie' music.
