The chant that McNally did was done in Gregorian Chant. This is coming from 12 years of catholic schooling (I went to a Catholic grade and high schools). While the grade school church did some chanting like the one McNally did, my High School did mass that had a whole lot more chanting (my high school was run by Franciscan Friars). They chanted most of the time any time we had mass.
