759: Country Dough Face

Please keep in mind that when I say dough-faced, I mean literally looking like a dough face. It's not an anology for stupid people. Someone made these faces out of dough. They ALSO happen to be stupid people. Dough can't hold a heavy brain.

I'm 31 and live in a town of less than 2,000 people in Wisconsin, but I work in NYC in the technology field, flying there every other week. Even doing the travel, it's a lot cheaper to live where I am (with 3 kids), but I love the city.

You just have to get used to being surrounded by Dough Faces. My tolerance is almost up, and I'll be heading to places more urban, it's just hard to move to a smaller house that costs a lot more.

I've always wondered that if most smart kids that grow up in small towns in Wisconsin end up moving out to the cities, and the people left reproduce, and their "smart" kids move out... Isn't it a degenerating cycle that will produce offspring that evenually won't be able to breed with the rest of the evolved human race?

Sadly, I think dumber people can't think of ANYTHING better to do... they'll overpopulate us all. It is easy to sell them crap, though. Dumb people buy anything... lawn gnomes, "I'm with Stupid" T-shirts, generic condoms...

Anyway, what I think spooky meant on the show, even though he didn't actually say it, is that looking down your nose at these dough faces is wrong because they can't be blamed for being so stupid. They are ultimately "ignorant," because of circumstances they could not escape and that doesn't make them bad people, that doesn't make them less than people who could manage to learn better, and that doesn't even mean they have lower IQs (maybe) it means they couldn't exact their full potential.

Products of society, if you will... I think maybe that's why spooky was offended. In Keith and Matt saying they are dumber are they wrong? I don't know, but I do know that over time, being so ignorant cannot be undone and when your brain isn't wired for learning anymore then yes, maybe you are dumber than me.

Being from the inner city I remember growing up with this one kid that was really, really smart. But he was sooo ghettofied and inarticulate but the way he could debate logically, even if his words were harsh, said that there was something going on in his brain. But like most people here he ended up being a drug dealer, after time, even though I am certain he was the smartest person in my class, maybe smarter than me, I am sure in 10 years he will be a fucking idiot. That's how brains work, they become hardwired to do one thing and if you stop using those parts they stop working after a long period of time.

I think spooky was most offended at the thought of Matt and Keith thinking they are better people because they had better opportunities. But at the end of the day, in some ways they are because they aren't prone to the stupid behavior that ignorance breeds...

I don't know who I agree with, I guess both sides, on some level?

Oh and P.S. didn't spooky invent the term "fly over states," or at least help circulate it. I'm sure he'll say, in some way or form, "but that's not what I meant by it," or "I just argue sides I don't even agree with for funsies." or "I only hear what I want so that I am always right"

My treadmill has 2 cup holders. I get that you put your beer in one, but when I put a McDonald's fries in the second one, salt drops onto the treads.

Any ideas?

Put fries in the other cup holder too. Then at least salt will drop on both sides evenly.

Just keep your beer in your hand. There really isn't a reason to put it down, is there?
