I have to agree with Patrice on the price of wine issue.

I'm a huge wino and if I pay an average of $8-$9 for a glass of wine here in my fly-over state, I think it's safe to assume that a Manhatten bar would typically charge $9 or $10 for one.

But I've never been to a bar in Manhatten and we all know what happens when you assume.

So maybe I'm an asshole. Fuck me.

About all the kids going in to the Army going to Iraq,

I had a buddy who went in last year who specifically wanting to go to Iraq, who now is doing special weapons testing in Hawaii. There is zero plans at the moment for him to even go to Iraq any time soon.

Nope. Completely normal, graduated from high school and went straight in hoping for war.

I'm sorry.... but how can you be "completely normal" and be hoping to go to war? It just doesn't make sense to me.... but I guess that is why I'm not in the armed forces....

I can kinda get the idea of wanting to serve your country, but to be solely focused on the "goal" of going straight into war.... It just seems a bit off in the noggin...

Oh, and tons of people that aren't all together in the head graduate high school every year....

Yeah you can get wine by the glass here for $8-10 as well. It isn't uncommon. I typically won't buy wine at a bar/restaurant unless I am with others who want to go in on a whole bottle. Typically more reasonable that way. Even then depending on the wine the markup can be outrageous. To my understanding %150 markup is standard for most alcoholic beverages, but I have seen some wines that I can buy in the grocery store for 13 bucks sold for $50 at a dining establishment.
