Correct me if I heard wrong, but throughout the debate I heard Palin pronounce 'Nuclear' as 'Nucular'. At first I could not believe it but thanx to my almighty DVR, I kept rewinding it and I was so busy laughing throughout the whole debate thereafter because she kept using the word & pronouncing it as NU-KU-LER. Did anyone else catch that? I believe Bush pronounces this word the same as Palin.

Where you will demonstrate that you are "informed" by being in total agreement with the progressive talking points. Because everyone knows that all smart, informed people vote progressive democrat.

Why you would bring up Nader is a mystery to me. Why would you essentially admit that Gore was such a weak candidate that Nader's measly 2-3% cost him an election. An election that he should have won considering that he was part of a popular administration and was campaigning during a booming economy.

Using your logic, we should really be talking about how Perot cost Bush the elder the 1992 election by garnering 6 times the votes that Nader received in 2000.

As to voting in a presidential election, it means fuck all. Your vote counts for shit and unless you're some kind of political zealot it's a complete waste of time to vote in Federal elections. If you still have misgivings over "wasting" your vote, find someone who would have voted opposite of you and go out and have a drink with them. Your votes would have canceled each other anyway and at least now your time can be spent enjoyably.

Fair enough, However:
1) Your comment re: Perot does not invalidate my comment re: Nader;
2) Please stay on point!
My comment was not made in a vacuum but in response to Keet's comment that he was thinking of voting for a third party and mentioned Nader (Ep 820 - Litmus Test-18:10 and 'Nader' on this episode);
3) the Less-than-a-thousand people who separated Gore from Bush in Florida would beg to differ re: your vote counts for shit;and
3) if you think that voting in a federal election, and choosing the president, is futile, you're completely ignoring how the power of that particular office has been expanded during the current Bush regime. I would have agreed with you had it not been for the fact that EVEN with only a 20% approval rating, your current president can still dictate whatever the hell he wants!!
If you don't believe that choosing THAT guy is important.....

My opinion (b/c you know you asked for it) on the advice for the guy in grad school: As someone in grad school (go ahead and call me a snob too) I didn't hear his problem necessarily as a problem with education but more of motivation and ambition. I would bet that if his woman had a decent job with ambition to go some where with her life/job, he would not have written the letter. I myself broke up with a boy my second year of grad school partly due to his lack of motivation to do something with himself. He was 24 and still living in his parent's basement with no motivation to move out. He had a job that he didn't like that wasn't even full time with no motivation to find a job that he would like better. For most of us in grad school, we fought a little to be here which took a lot of motivation to do and it is fucking annoying to be with someone who doesn't have anything close to our ambition. I believe some similar reasons were involved in my friend's divorce (she was a grad student, he was not). I could certainly date someone that didn't have the same education as me, given that they had smarts of some kind, but not if they had no motivation.

Additionally, I don't know what grad school program this guy is in, but if it is similar to the one I am in, his girl would be putting up with more than just an hour a day of studying. I have had more days than I can count where I literally do nothing but study all day, with maybe a break at dinner. Significant others of grad students put up with a lot of time without their grad student around. I have watched a lot of relationships not make it.
