While he was a little confusing in his articulation, I think what he meant was that there are laws against these things and that passing new laws won't create any change in the crime rates. He seemed to be emphasizing the idea of thinking about new, more effective ways to treat the problem rather than punishing it after the fact.

I grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta and none of the public schools have swimming pools (would have been smart though since its so warm). The swim teams would all use the local aquatic centers for meets and practice. The only time I've seen swimming pools at high schools was in California with outdoor pools.

Now a days, if red pen is supposed to be damaging to kids, just think about seeing their classmates in bathing suits. Oh the horror!

Oh and William is an awesome guest! Lori and Chris can come back too.

My high school had a pool with stadium style stands for people to watch swim meets. We also had two hockey arenas attached to the school, one for the boys team and one for the girls.

Baby names...

I just remembered Chris mentioning that one of the top baby names this year was January. Anyone think this is because of January Jones from Mad Men?

Last year one of the top baby names was Ava. The name wasn't prominent at all until a character on Grey's Anatomy was named Ava and suddenly its the number 2 baby name of the year.

I think we let pop culture influence baby names a bit too much. Mogli? Really?

I do think, however, Adolph Hitler Campbell's parents were just trying to cause tension with the cake. Do they call him Adolph or Adolph Hitler? It's a bit weird to put the middle name on the cake unless the kid is called that. Just like his sister, Joyce Lynn Aryan Nation Campbell. When they call her, do they scream "Joyce Lynn Aryan Nation! Get down here!". I doubt it. So just put Joyce or Joyce Lynn on the cake. Putting the whole thing on there is just asking for trouble. If they were such Nazis, they should just make the cake themselves to ensure no jews touched it.

Though I agree that pedophiles should be penalized for their actions I'm not crazy about a one-size fits all law. The problem about laws being created, is that they get abused and enforced for some reason or another.

Like for instance that whole fiasco about photos of lisa and bart simpson are now considered kid porn in some countries.

Or if you're a teen and you take nude pics of yourself you can be tried for abusing a minor, even if you're that minor.

Or if in the past, in your sophomore yr of high school you gave a a blowjob to a fellow sophomore, but you're a year older, you may be put on the sex offender list for life.

I don't know what the real answer is. I think if cases are tried on a trial by trial basis there could be better results vs. just having a one size fits all law in the books. But human error will always play a role in such things.

Football ass-slapping

I played football from 5th-12th grade, and I always figured the reason for slapping a dude's ass is because it's really the only place without pads. If you slap someone on the shoulders or helmet they probably won't feel it.
As for football and basketball, I guess a lot of homos play those sports or something.

i was a professional athlete for 10 years, college before that, and the ass slapping, for what ever reason was a thing of encouragement, a "go get em" or "good job/way to go" gesture. Dont know where it started, why etc... nothing about it ever seemed homo erotic or as weird as you nerds are making it...

the only problem I ever saw with this was when it happened in the locker room on a bare ass and then the slap on the ass seemed a lot less gay than the naked fist fight that followed.

so to clarify, unless you are naked or wearing a wrestling thong, the ass slap on the athletic field holds no sexual connotation other than the one you personally attach to it, faggots.

My personal beliefs on the child molesters is that they don't get near enough punishment for what they do. Sometimes they aren't even charged at all because there is no physical evidence to put them away. Other times they get probation. In my master's program we've learned alot about child molesters and how adult molesters have a high recidivism rate and treatment isn't that successful but if you have a child/teen that is molesting children they have a better success rate with treatment.
