Pandora - you can't use a band or an artist as the 'seed' or you get bad results. I love Steely Dan's jazzy stuff off of Aja, but if you start a station w/ just the band name and you get lots of classic rock due to their early stuff.

Use individual songs to seed your station and it works much better.

EDIT: As for The Great American Novel, it might have been answered on the show, but is the rights for the book still with the POD company? I ask because I would imagine if the KATG relationship does some bank, your publisher there might be interested. So, y'know, always hope.
