So let this be a lesson to everyone — backup your data! Make copies of photos, videos, writings, design projects, illustrations etc. Buy a cheap external HD, fill it up, and leave it with a good friend or your parents. Or better yet, get an online solution in case, somehow, your copy gets corrupted AND your mother's house burns down.
this solution is only for designers who cant let go of the past work they have done.

when a job is over, burn you notes and move on. try it scott, it is such a relief.

kind of like revealing yourself anew to the world you are hiding from.

Are you a designer, or has a designer hurt you at some point in life?

I think you fail to see the fact that even if Keith had made copies of his data, he only would have also had to give that copied data to John Petrie as well. He would be in the same place he is now, but with two copies of all his stuff gone.

I know how that feels, all my first semester uni work was stolen (in an Architecture degree that's a hell of alot). I had it all backed up in 3 different places...all of which were stolen. Had my flat broken into one night while I was out, they stole my laptop, sony external HD & iPod all of which my stuff were backed up on. Yea yea I should have got a friend to store it at theirs but I thought 3 places would be safe enough. Had to re-do all my first semester work while simultaneously doing new projects and assignments...still pisses me off .

And lists ...

don't forget your lists of hard and soft copies and the lists of those lists.

Chemda has never made it through a terrestrial radio interview without swearing. There is NO WAY IN HELL she can make it through a "clean" show with her mom. And if I am wrong and Chemda does make it all the way through a show with her mom without dropping one curse word (and it can't be an edited show), then I will spend $100 in the KATG store. There it is, in writing. I stand by it!

I have my lists on my phone, on my computer, on my backup HD, backed up on Google, and on a thumb drive in the fire safe.

Wow

Jeremy knows how it's done!! I almost lost all my shit (songs I've written, family photos) when my external crashed. I had to pay $200 for data recovery and was so lucky and got all my stuff back. Now, I've learned my lesson that backing up does not equal putting it somewhere other than your computer then deleting the original. Durrrrrr.
