And by that I don't mean that you are wrong, but that nowadays there are so many strains of thought within the parties that it is impossible to say what a "true" democrat or "true" republican is. For the Republicans, for example: the christian right would say they are "true", fiscal conservatives that they are "true", yadda yadda yadda.

So Keith can say he is a Republican or a Democrat or Purple Dinosaur, and I don't see how anyone can contradict him on his choice. For the record, I said he was a Libertarian.

Republicans traditionally say they want smaller government, but W increased the size of government, far more than any two democratic presidents you might care to pick. Most Republicans say they want people to have guns, but then, when in government pass laws to take guns from people.

Libertarians want as small as a government as possible, and often state that the market should be able to supply what ever is needed, cheaper than any government, and the individual should be willing to work for what they need, it should not be handed to anyone. They also believe that people should be allowed to have and carry guns.

As for the death penalty, I have heard plenty of Libertarians who support the death penalty, probably more than Republicans, and most of those have suggested that those who were injured, should be the ones pulling the trigger to enact the death penalty.

From Keith's many pronouncements, it he sounds far more Libertarian than Republican. It could be argued that Keith's justice could even be a libertarian stance.

The best listener suggestion about Keith's Justice was the person who said for the first year the police shoot you with painball guns as a warning. When our speed limits changed there was a 3 months grace period where the police would pull you over and tell you that you were speeding and you would have got a fine. Now imagine that but for 5 years ever time you litter or smoke crack you get shot with a paintball gun.

I'd stop littering, those paintball thingys hurt.

Keith talking about the age of consent in Afghanistan and Iran being 18 for the male but "married" for the female reminded me of this story I recently saw. They are so obsessed with sex but terrified of it at the same time that a 75 year old woman will likely be killed for just sitting in her living room with two men (I doubt she's going to survive 40 lashes).

Saudis order 40 lashes for elderly woman for mingling

A Saudi Arabian court has sentenced a 75-year-old Syrian woman to 40 lashes, four months imprisonment and deportation from the kingdom for having two unrelated men in her house, according to local media reports.

According to the Saudi daily newspaper Al-Watan, troubles for the woman, Khamisa Mohammed Sawadi, began last year when a member of the religious police entered her house in the city of Al-Chamli and found her with two unrelated men, "Fahd" and "Hadian."

Fahd told the policeman he had the right to be there, because Sawadi had breast-fed him as a baby and was therefore considered to be a son to her in Islam, according to Al-Watan. Fahd, 24, added that his friend Hadian was escorting him as he delivered bread for the elderly woman. The policeman then arrested both men.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam called Wahhabism and punishes unrelated men and women who are caught mingling.
