Actually ther are countries where homosexuals still get killed, and not by a small minority of intolerant psychos. Jamaica, for example.

Homosexuality comes in and out of vogue. Bath Houses, anyone?

Both the Jewish communities and Black communities at some point or another were considered 'not human.' Not to invalidate any individual's degradation of spirit, an excessively cruel thing, but I think that kicks gays out of the running. Homosexuality as a 'condition' still lets you retain your humanity.

Except for the Greeks, Sioux, and the Catholic priesthood ... gays have had it pretty rough. That being said, except for the most screeching fairy, gays have also had a better option for flying under the radar than the other two groups. On the other hand, they have taken it on the chin from almost all but the few aforementioned cultures.
