Here's the thing, Chemda is asking him to stop drinking. Period. If he does not have a problem, he quits, no big deal. If he doesn't or has a millions reasons why he shouldn't the message is clear, booze trumps Chemda.

The flip side of this is that I believe that she said she would probably call it quits if he said no more Lauren (or other women), or he wants a baby. He does that and she chooses those things over Keith.

Life is tough and they have decisions to make, some ugly ones if you ask me. His drinking bugs her and that will not go away. She may be able to shut up about it for a bit but it will always creep up on them. Once someone has you pegged as a drunk (and she has said this repeatedly over the years) you do not get out from under that, ever. I am a recovering drunk and know this shit first hand. He says alot of the things that I used to say about my drinking, this event is coming, how about only beer, 5 drinks a day, only on weekends etc. etc. At the end of the day if you have had numerous people in your life (and they have admitted they have) discuss the fact that your drinking is an issue, chances are not everybody is "out to trick you"


For those of you who keep calling him high funtioning, keep in mind:

-never had a real career outside of this podcast
-does the podcast at bizarre times of the day as it fits his schedule, not punching a clock.
-shits in very bizarre locations
-jerked off in the bathroom at a CHILDRENS party
-hates a guy and actually thinks that someone that had his shit from years ago may still have the drunken ramblings of a homeless person that he believes will become americas best selling novel.
-has never been able to publish his novel after years of fucking around with it
-uses fake names at hospitals due to no money
-has horrible credit (according to him)

quite a list for a high functioning alcolic at 35 or however old he is.

Actually I remember Chemda saying in an episode somewhat recently that if it came down do Keith not being ok with Lauren, that she would stop fucking her. I cannot remember her words exactly but the jist is that Keith is what's the most important to her.

Anyone remember what episode that was?

Actually, Chemda never said that she wants him to stop drinking. I think she was pretty clear that she is concerned and wants him to evaluate his situation. I'm sure she would be thrilled if he did stop drinking but she never actually said that, at least not on the show. And I also doubt that booze trumps Chemda. I never heard that said by Keith or ever got the impression that that is actually the case. However, I would love to hear what Keith has to say about your comments.

First of all, however much of the show is about it, Keith and Chemda is about Keith and Chemda and very few of us have any real insight to that relationship. We have what they give us to base our conclusions on.

Second, I'll just go down your list as someone who isn't an alcoholic. Mostly because it amuses me to do so.
