I've had the opposite results. Utensils face up get cleaner. Anytime the forks are face down, there's still food remnants.
There's likely confirmation bias working here. Anytime we see food on the silverware when it was in the direction we think is right, it must be that it was so bad even the dishwasher couldn't clean it. And whenever the food is left on there in the wrong direction, it proves that the other is best. Sorry to hear about your divorce, kitchens tear apart so many relationships. Mine ended over not securing the garbage bag around the trash can. |

I prefer to alternate utensils up and down so they have less opportunity to mesh together where the water can’t get between. You know you can’t let the forks spoon each other.
My new dishwasher has slots for the utensils so they can’t spoon and this forces them handle down. It’s a bit harder to load, you can’t just drop the utensils in but it’s not so bad. Haven’t had an issue yet... will see how this works when I start having my son do the dishes... |
