It's about what is not taught. In the US it is real history that isn't white washed colonizer American centric. Oh yeah and geography isn't taught either. English in this country is taught so fucked up. If it wasn't for schoolhouse rock I wouldn't know what a conjunction is. or a dangling participle... and apparently gen Z doesn't know what a ellipsis is used for they think it's hate speech or something. For example when I learned about WWII in history class they don’t start at the start of the war they go over when and “why” the US joined the wars. I know next to nothing about the takeover of mainland Europe. Why there even was a battle in Africa. WWI same thing teaching that history starts when the US is debating about whether to get involved. We learned more about the Holocaust in English class than history class thanks to Ann Frank’s diary.

they also never mention America’s involvement in the eugenics movement that molded Hitler’s plan of eradication.

spoiler alert: we’ve always been the baddies, baby.

other notable examples: Japanese internment, Chinese railway workers including laws forbidding marriage, and the schools indigenous children were sent to against their will to eradicate their language and culture.

Or the Armenian genocide which the US turned a blind eye to, and of which Hitler said before invading Poland, “After all, who speaks of the Armenian genocide today?”
