If you filed for divorce from her how the heck were they painting it like she was trying to get away from you? And what violence did they bring up to make you scary if you weren't violent? There was no violence to bring up. Her lawyer said, "My client has had to change the locks, get a new cell phone, new email because she feels threatened." That was lawyer-speak for "She changed the locks so he couldn't get his clothes, computers, etc. It was his cell phone, so she had to get one of her own. And she got a new email because her existing email ran through the ISP that he hosted."

The entire legal process was a sham. I had to fill out hundreds of pages of information, yet it was clear the judge never read any of it. I had supporting documentation which was never read. I was never allowed to speak in court.

At one point she told her lawyer I was hiding almost $20M. Her lawyer told the court I was hiding money, so they subpoenaed all financial records from my employer. Then I had the fun activity of going through 20 years of financial records to explain every expense over $500. It took hours, but I did have fun with that one. Every expense over $1,000 I listed something I bought for her. Childish, but it made me feel better. In the end, they found nothing because there was nothing to find.

As for the fam, it's been strained. Surprisingly, her family never ghosted me. They always loved me. It was my own family that wasn't there for me. I have since mostly come back to the fold, but it's taken 20 years and none of them know my true feelings about it. It definitely changed the family dynamic.
