Glad everyone enjoyed that - quite the mindfuck. Still gives me the shivers.

advances in signal processing allow positional audio cues via minute adjustments to a whole bunch of parameters simultaneously.

Basically our brain processes the sound arriving at both ears to an astoundingly precise degree. In nanoseconds the brain is able to determine if a sound is in front/behind and up/down by the source/reflection time and frequency variation. Similar to the more common left/right panning trick but with WAY more parameters; multiple delay/frequency/phase manipulations allow sound mixers to position sounds with great accuracy.

there's a diggnation episode that demo'd DolbyDigitals version of this kind of product - Dolby Headphone or sumthin - kinda cool but not so intense - demo at approx 4 minute mark

I'll see if I can spin up a katg style demo that'll make every one sick. Might take a while though.

They're fuggin' awesome...if you hate music but LOVE bass.

Grado SR60s are still my favorite cheap cans.

I just started exploring the world of IEMs/canalphones. Has anyone ever tried the V-Moda Vibes? I've had about 20 hours of burn-in in mine and they already sound better than my Shure E2c and E3c's. They're pretty awesome for a hundred bucks.

We'll see what V-Moda's new project brings to the table. If it doesn't interest me, it's time to get some Ety E4Ps.
