5th wedding anniversay

Hey guys,

the big 5 is coming up! Whoohoo!

We want to go big - a trip out of this forsaken city, but what is the traditional 5 year gift?

Thanks all

My 15 year is coming up. Just four more years and I'll have spent half my life with my wife (I was 20 when I met her).

Wait, married in 91...yeah, that's right. I think.

A wood paddle with a silver handle

Or a silverware set made of wood.

Traditional and modern, make a fucking decision!

I love how they tried to reinvent the anniversary gift traditions to move up the more costly goods to lower anniversaries.

10 years: Traditional: Tin/Aluminum; Modern: Diamond
20 years: Traditional: Chian; Modern: Platinum (They move platinum ABOVE silver and gold on the fucking list?!)
25 years: Traditional: Silver; Modern: Sterling Silver (The difference is that you HAVE to buy the jewelry!)
30 years: Traditional: Pearl; Modern: Diamond (Again with the diamonds!)
Then they make one up:
100 years: Traditional: (N/A); Modern: 10 carat Diamond: VERY SPECIFIC. Like a 120 year old could afford a fucking 10 carat diamond!

I understand you have to get something to replace the now-illegal ivory, but c'mon people.

And for the record, I'm coming up on 6 years this month. I'm getting my wife DVDs. Not wood. They might be considered Iron in a way, though. Does that count? Definitely didn't get her silverware nor wood last year.

At least in Coconuts case she would only have to be 113 for the 10 carat diamond.

And no the DVD's don't count but hell I'm no expert on anniversary gifts we never followed that stuff.

"They" are the same people who created the sham known as "Sweetest Day". Jewlers have their own lists of "Anniversary Gemstones". Florists have their own lists of "Anniversary Flowers". When I moved from Connecticut to Michigan, my girlfriend at the time (wife now) wanted us to go out on "Sweetest Day". Having never heard of this "holiday" before, I asked around. None of my family had ever heard of it before.

Trust me, when I reach 10 years, I won't be getting my wife that 10th Anniversary band you see advertised by DeBeers (The Diamond Monopoly). That thing costs more than I make in a year. (Try $29,000).

Yeah, you're right. DVD's are polycarbonite, not Iron (Steel). Oh darn.
