Exactly.

I absolutely love my job. Love, love, love.

But there is a person I work with who complains constantly about how awful it is...it's a total bummer. Misery loves company, but you're not going to find it here.

You don't have to go get a new job, but just shut the heck up! For the last year I've heard about how you'll leave as soon as this imaginary milestone happens...it's never going to happen. Take control of your life and go! But at the very least, shut up.

Man, that was good therapy.

We're all aware we have choices and our choices have consequences.
Oh, I'm sorry. Did I touch a nerve?

I'm sure I didn't all the time, but I do remember that when I did I had a lot easier time going to work knowing that my priority at the time was not to have a nice manager, it was to finish college or whatever.

With my co-workers, it's not the bitching that bothers me, it's this helpless attitude that they couldn't possibly figure out a way to change their situation. The fact that they refuse to acknowledge that they're the people keeping themselves in their shitty job. The fact that they're not trying to move on if they hate it so much.
Preach it, Marina, that is the inertia that drives me mad!

No. Just following a statement of the obvious with a statement of the obvious.

Some jobs are like that, but sometimes with the current job market you have to take just anything and you don't really have a choice.
I've continued applying everywhere since getting my current job. This is the only job offer I've had in 9 months as of July 3rd.
If you have too much experience you're over qualified for any smaller jobs, and you have to compete with 7-800 people for the good jobs.

I went to a job fair a month ago and counted of in groups of 50ish, 700 people there to meet 8 employers filling 10 jobs.
So ya gotta take anything now, shitty or not.

I don't understand people who hate everything about their job and just bitch about it. Yes take a job you hate while you find a better one but don't just sit in your job and complain about how bad it is. You don't have to stay in the job you loathe forever, if you literally hate every single thing about your job how are you not spending every spare minute you have looking for a better one?

Everyone hates somethings about their job. I hate having to take 3yr olds to the bathroom, it is really the only thing that I have to do that really frustrates me and makes me mad at the kids but on balance I love most of it. If you weigh up what you like against what you hate and you hate most of it why are you just sitting there?

That's almost as long I looked until I got the job I have now. The difference between looking for a better job and not looking for a better job is miles and miles wide. At least you're being proactive. It may look the same on the face of it, but it's a completely different mind set.

Really I don't even want a different kind of job. I just want to not work with a bunch of assholes like I do now.
For me it's not the job, it's the people I work with that make the job bad.

I wish my co-worker would get fired for his own sake. He hates every minute of being there. Commutes an hour every day. Wants to do something else. He just needs the push.

And for the fact that my heart sinks every time he walks into work.
