I am an apt complex manager. I HATE MY JOB. But I do get rent and utilities paid by the company and the apartment is really nice. Honestly, three or four tenants are ruining this experience for me. What I like about this job is constantly learning about the laws as they pertain to landlord/tenant and fair housing. I used to work in hotels, and I miss that level of interaction with the public. However, I understand there are greater things in my life than just work, and this place is close to everything I want to do and allows me no commute. And, since I have my own office, I get to listen to the show and be on the forums as often as I want with no one looking over my shoulder.

So what is up with those three or four tenants?

One is a petulant child and is unable to act like an adult on everything. It's a situation between himself and another neighbor dealing with POA with his former roommate, and I keep getting dragged into it. Another is a tenant who only calls me after hours to talk about completely irrelevant stuff and wants me to talk to the other neighbors about what their kids are saying to her kid - basically she is a wimp and wants me to play mom for her. Another is terrible - constant complaints about potential criminal activity, tons of damage to the unit. We have tried to evict her several times, only to have her manage to find the loopholes and avoid the evictions. This time, since her lease expired, she was given a 30-day termination without cause, so there's nothing she can do to fight it. Even after the 30 days is up, she'll still be there, which means I have to go to court again to get the sherriff to lock her out. She lives off the system and makes everyone else miserable. The police are here all the time because of her. This person is proof the laws are designed to favor tenants and not landlords, because I cannot get rid of her!

Seriously, I have a feeling I will feel differently about this job once those few situations are resolved.

You're doing it wrong... try interning other places, find a job you like and get hired.

I'm not really sure how I feel about my job, yet. I seem to have accidentally conned my way into a job I'm not qualified for. I'm doing fashion merchandising for Target, which is just a really fancy way of saying I arrange clothes on the sales floor.

You mean "gay aspie" doesn't qualify you for this job? If it doesn't pass muster, I'm not really sure what would be considered "qualified." Of course, if you are actually klepto, it could be a short-term gig.

Yeah I know. I just have shit expiernce so nobody will hire me. Besides, the internship I'm at now nothing to do with my actual career. I'm forced to do it because of my parents and I need the cash. Desperate times cause desperate situations. I'm trying to make the best of it.

If you've done it before, you must have experience in something. What do you want to do eventually?

Im doing banking and secretarial stuff right now and I want to be a psychologist eventually. They are rather unrelated fields. I do it becuase of the cash and parents forcing me. Thoguh doing it gave me some experience, it is never enough or not the right type for people to call me back or give me an interview. I honestly dont know. I suppose I cant be picky where people have to work a bunch of jobs or have none at all but I would rather have a job where I can have some semblance of happyness.

I think that's a cool job. I love doing displays. Then again, I used to do them all the time. I have learned to find the things in the job I do like, and try to make the best of those instead of dwelling on the things I don't like. It's a struggle in this job, but it is possible.

I came from working at the Ritz Carlton in Hawaii, which is a hard job to leave. One of my biggest problems is that I compare this job to that one, which only sets me up for disappointment. If I could afford to stay in Hawaii, I'd still be there. Nothing like working ocean-front all day!

This picture is a bit dark, but this was the view from the pool, aka my office:
