Since that time I have embarked on an intensive marketing campaign to promote the book and it has been going well. I have done a couple of radio interviews and have contributed articles for a number of prominent blogs across the web.

However, what I consider to be my holy grail right now would be the opportunity to talk to Keith & Chemda about the book in the form of an on-air interview. I have emailed the guys numerous times now but thus far my emails have gone unanswed. I know both Keith & Chemda are extremely busy and receive tonnes of mail but I am a little disheartened.

They are my heroes, these two and I would be honored for the opportunity to speak to them.

Is the mountain too high to scale?
While I can't know for certain, I suspect that Scott Sigler uses this method and you might have more success getting to plug your book on the show by going this route.

Dear Marina,

I really want to die while walking, but I haven't decided if I want to die in the desert, or on a snowy mountain.

I'd flip a coin, but I think I'll let you decide my pre-planned fate.

My argument is for the mountains. Dying in the desert, you're most likely to die of heatstroke or thirst. Both are rather painful and dire. Dying in the cold you are likely to die of hypothermia. After the initial freezing, you begin to feel numb, and then you begin to feel warm and pleasant. Also, the mountains are much more beautiful than the desert.

I'm emailing the info@ and Keith@ addresses. I figure this covers all the bases.

Marina,
Do you believe that fortune cookies can be prophetic and the fortunes real? I guess I'm saying unknown forces existing that can lead you in a certain direction?
Is it silly to think that it might be a synchronicity rather than coincidence?

I don't think it's altogether silly to believe in a grand design. I think that such a thing is unlikely, and that what we usually perceive as fate is actually the underestimated habit of the human mind to seek patterns in our daily lives.

But the whole pattern/brain thing is really boring and dry, and fate and fortune are far more fun. I'm always on the side of fun, however too strong a reliance on one's belief in the supernatural can lead to horrible things like Scientology, witch burning and sex through a sheet.

So grain of salt all around.

Yeah, I was trekking through about 40 inches of snow at a local park, and it was pretty fun.

Plus, when you fall in the snow, it's pretty damn cozy.

Should I tell my family I'm going to New York? We're very close, and if some sort of emergency happened, I would want them to know. They won't approve at all, but I am a grown adult. It might be easier to just not answer my phone for 3 days, and hope my plane doesn't crash.
