Got a raise. A very small raise, but I got one. Also, my job description rewritten and it basically cuts out a lot of the shit I hate and prioritizes the shit I love.

Marina...Congratulations, YEAH...it's awesome when th give you a raise, even a small one. It shows an appreciation.

@dEad Twitter is just a running convo...how is it different from a forum? It's just more immediate...I don't see it a narcissistic. shrug.

What are the signs of a midlife crisis? I think my brother is heading into one....
dEad...you're the authority right? (smirk)

Bithead....you got any insight (smirkx2)

Seriously though....

I scoffed at the news stories about "quarter life crisis" until last year, when I'm pretty sure I went through one. I just sat around, constantly questioning every single thing I've ever done and every single plan I've ever made. It was awful. Seems to be over now, though. Thank God.

I went through something at 25...it was pretty serious at the time. It was a "what do I do now, where is my life going, I want kids, a career, my own place and I have nothing.

I was a loser...I built my life from scratch starting at 26, went back to school, met my man, moved out...all at the same time practically. It was a busy 5 years.

My brother, it is more emotional turmoil, burning bridges in the family...taking things to heart...I love him and watching him isolate himself is scaring me.

junkelette, any attention from you always makes me feel better

i don't really do those broad "mid-life", "male menopause" type deals. Life is too nuanced from where i sit.
i think people find reasons to bitch and self-destruct or destroy relationships to prove their own self-loathing.

You're not happy because you are not accepting your divinity.

my quarter life crisis thing was kind of funny because I am on the track I want to be, I have a lot of the things that it's reasonable for a person my age to have and I like my life, but I got all weird about feeling stalled, feeling like I hadn't developed at all, that I was stuck and not going anywhere. All of a sudden, it lifted as randomly as it had come.

Oh, thanks

I suppose it's possible what I'm going through is a mid-life crisis. The thought has certainly crossed my mind. But the way I see it, I only now (at 40) know what I want. AND I'm going and getting it for myself. It's likely it takes X years of life experience before most realize they want to be doing something different. Hence, 40-something's (like me) turning their careers upside down?

Up until now, I've done absolutely everything that social norms have said I should do. In retrospect, I should have pursued a career in Music and then moved into Technology if/when that didn't work out. That's probably the only "fork in the road" that I truly regret.
