Dane Cook on WTF

Amazing interview.

I was skeptical about it but trust Marc's intelligence and blunt approach.

He circles around him , he doesnt approach him in a biased way, he soothes him at the beginning.

Then things get tense. He litterally asks the most brutal, openly dissecting questions that probably Cook ever had to answer.

Cook has a semi-freakout, ends up looking like an insane self pitying douche and Marc hits him with a ton of edgy sarcasm (and if you're deaf about this, just pay attention at what Marc says AFTER the interview and to the tone of his voice)

Maron is a badass. If i ever doubted him, i was wrong.

I absolutley love Maron. If you haven't heard the Mancia episodes, they are well worth it also.

One of the things i absolutely love about Maron, besides his super clever humour, is that he's tough as steel and has a brain and an ego the size of an ocean.

Many have accused him of being on the side on Dane Cook, and i thought that too. But after hearing this, i think he simply refuses to take an open side on the guy or any "controversial" comedian or topic. As he says in the mailing list alòert about this ep: "I dont care about Cook's comedy in one way or the other".

And that position makes this interview ten times better. He doesnt give Cook reasons to whine about "Unfair Treatment" (although the psycho still manages to sound like a victim and looks even more ridiculous)

There's a bunch of moments in this episode that are downbright classic (Dont read if you dont want it spoiled):

-The absolute cold manner in which Marc destroys Cook when he brings up the hate mail about his parents: "Yeah i remember that bit. Then you wrote him back and insulted him. All for the sake of a good joke right"?

-The "Essence" bit. Awesome. Marc laughing with vitriol dripping from his voice and Cook getting increasingly nervous.

-The constant slaps that Maron delivers about the man's personality "You're basically a motherfucker"

-And the whole joke theft deal, which is dealt with beautifully.

whoever thinks that he went easy on him, clearly hasnt listened.

Shitting mothers! This was the Frost-Nixon of comedy interviews.

I loved how Marc didn't let go of the fact that Cook said he "did anything for a laugh". He kept throwing it back in his face. He didn't get away with anything.

I'm an advocate for What The Fuckers. It's just logical.

The only issue I have with Maron is that he was discussing other podcasts (many many shows ago) and he did not plug KATG.

The only reason I ever learned who he is, was because of KATG. I should have emailed him, but I procrastinated and failed.

He only plugs people's stuff when he has them on and he started doing WTF a little after he appeared on KATG the last time.

Beisdes that, he's a self absorbed bastard. That's part of his charm. If Keith and Chemda ever contact him again he'll probably mention the show on WTF.

I like him too much to focus on a detail like that, but maybe it's just me.
