In between these two conceptual extremes remains the legacy of enslaved whites and passing blacks,
who, in today’s world, seem to occupy a limbo of what one might call pre-whiteness and postblackness.
Pre-whites include downsized poor white factory workers, but also those whom the
mainstream media always mark as aspiring, or "good" immigrants— those who don’t yet look like
“real” Americans, but who, with hard work at two or more jobs and lots of intermarriage, can hope
to be white in no time. A post-black on the other hand is that light-skinned, ubiquitous pretender to
victimhood who malaprops his way through the one professional job that should have been divided
among ten better qualified white factory workers. Post-blacks exist in the realm of that utterly
paradoxical category of social projection: the “New Black Middle Class,” which includes anyone —
from office messengers to Oprah Winfrey — deemed not a member of the “real” black underclass.

nigga please

this reminds me of a stand up routine i'm working on writing... not that i've ever done stand up or anything... just daydreams

i wanna talk to you yall about the nigga problem we got in this country
..no no wait a minute.. sorry.. let me clarify that
i want to talk to you about the problem we seem to have with the word "nigga", i was listening to this clip from oprah where she was all pandering to the audience saying like 'the n-word has too much power, it's too powerful.. i think the n-word should just be abolished by black people and white people' and everyone applauds and yea yea horse shit!
that's gotta be the stupidest thing i've ever heard a billionaire say. you're complaining about a word being too powerful and then saying it should be even MORE off limits than it is now.. that's what gives a thing its power.. you want to make something valuable? rareify it. it's why diamonds a worth so much... why prohibition all of a sudden sparked a dramatic increase in alcohol consumption... whenever we turn sometthing into the forbidden fruit we suddenly want it more than we ever did before. that's why i submit that we gotta use the word nigga more! you know how you say a word or write a word over and over and after a while it totally stops making any sense al all.. same thing!
the black community seems to have sorta tried this by just changing the connotation of the word.. making it a positive thing to be a nigga. but that's not enough.. you gotta change the meanings of the word completely.. you gotta introduce new meanings.. you need as many excuses to use the word nigga as you can possibly get
.
and i gotta tell you black people here.. yall may not know this for the most part.. but young white america has already gotten started with this.. especially the hip hop fans.. nigga does not mean black person any more to these kids. i say these kids but i'm included in this too.. nigga just means dude. hey dude.. sup nigga.. not much.. it just means friend, foe, jackass, asshole.. it's just another word to describe a person. "hey did you talk to cory yesterday? nah dude i don't trust that crazy nigga.." this is the kinda shit that takes the power out of a word. there's no harm in this exchange.. nobody's demeaning anyone's race or culture.. it's become just another way to refer to another human being.
the problem as i see it, the reason the word still makes sense for old white republican dicks to yell it out of their trucks is.. certain black people do not want to let go of its original meaning.. they say shit like "you're white.. you can't be a nigga.. I'M A NIGGA! " no. this totally backwards. now they're being the racists. why can't you just call me your nigga? almost every single white kid who listens to hiphop wants you to call him your nigga. just do it! make a nigga feel welcome.. shit.
but here's my contribution.. i say we take it one step further.. every noun is a nigga.. instead of saying 'that thing' or 'that place' we just say 'that nigga' like:
"you ever been to that nigga down the street next to the pharmacy? "
"ah the one with the big neon nigga on the sign.. "
"yea yea with the top hat looking nigga on his head"
"nahh.. never been in that nigga.. "
"ah shit.. you gotta go.. that nigga's got all kinds of crazy niggas to drink and eat, it's nice as shit"

Now, I can't say I read the ENTIRE thing, but most of it. Just curious - was there a joke in there somewhere?
