Elections in France

I just have a few questions..

Anybody else think it's weird that France elects a new president during a weekend?

Do they sell alcohol all weekend?

Is being sober while voting necessarily a good thing?

Could this explain the strange reputation France has in the political world (You know the jokes - seen on Ebay, French rifle, only dropped once, etc.)

Should I be concerned?

THis is actually makes a lot more sense because this way more people have an opportunity to vote.

I can see that as a point in favor doing it that way. It just struck me as odd. For all I know, everybody but the US votes on weekends. The countries that are allowed to vote for tings, anyway.

It was one of the salvageable ideas in the Communist Manifesto.

The choice is easy : a stupid-ass-fuck socialist lady who doesn't know anything about anything or Nicolas Sarkozy, a reincarnation of Napoléon. Many of us actually see Sarkozy as France's savior. He's a former Minister of the Economy and Minister of the Interior, a strong guy who knows what he's talking about and who is ready to take the strong measures we need to put our country back on its feet.

Even drunk, it shouldn't be too difficult to put the right name in the envelope.

She's hot but I think I'd vote for him because it looks from here like somebody needs to take the reins and change things up. I'm not an expert on France, it's just a general feeling I get from skimming news from all over the world every day.

Wait, you use an envelope when you vote? How does that work? You put the ballot into an envelope, not just drop it in a box?

We put the ballot in an envelope then we drop the envelope into the box. It's just a matter of privacy since the boxes are transparent. Some cities also use voting machines.

Your "general feeling" is right, a strong leader is what we need. Sarkozy can be compared to an American democrat, it's pretty much the same thing even though some socialists have called him an "American neoconservative with a French passport".

I like the transparent box thing, but I don't know why. But that does explain the envelope.

Strong leader's are needed in lots of places I can think of. smiley face. Stay strong, France. Just say no to socialism. Just as we elect Hillary. You can be the next superpower.
