A lot of her books are a bit girly but I really liked her Darkover series that is a cool mix of fantasy and science-fiction Quote:

or were you just confused which one is the first? I would actually not recommend reading "New Spring" as the first one but rather keep it as a treat for a little later when you need a Moiraine fix BTW Amazon just let me know that Towers of Midnight is in the mail and should arrive shortly |

It even has the cover art like Lanfear's avatard. Books are fucking cheap in America. Last edited by Rock 'n' Rye; 11-03-2010 at 09:14 PM. |

Agree, George R. R. Martin is great. Probably the best newer stuff out there.
I really like Robert E. Howard and Michael Moorcock's Elric saga is great too. Another great author is Fritz Leiber. Fafhrd and The Gray Mouser is awesome. |

Speaking of books with women as the main character, has anyone read Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Dart series? I highly recommend it if you haven't. The magic isn't a dominant part of the series, but the books are excellent. And I shit you not, they are some of the sexiest books ever written.
