I stayed at the La Quinta Inn at 32nd and Broadway, booked it through AAA (so that rate may have helped a bit with the cost). A typical 3-diamond hotel, but it suited me well enough. I think for four nights, it was about $550-600? So, not too bad for its location; subway entrance two doors down.

This i where I stayed my 1st time around. I know other KATG guests have stayed there as well. It's downtown and super cheap. It's clean and everything-just no amenities. But, it's KATG week...you won't be in your hotel room that much!!

I don't know...last time I was in NYC I got swindled (I guess...I don't know how else to describe it) in Penn Station. Even though there was no penetration, I still didn't enjoy that.


Also, while I'm here, is this the official April thread now? Would anyone be seriously interested in sharing a hotel or something? I've started looking at rates between April 11 and April 16, and even then I don't know if I can justify it for just myself. I may just try to Priceline my way through it in the coming months and get a better rate, but still, if a real, not crazy, not rapist person would be willing to split a room that would be a better (and likely still cheaper) deal.

The Gershwin Hotel in Chelsea has dorm-style rooms for about $60/night. 3 bunkbeds a room, very clean, each room has a bathroom with shower. I stayed there my first night in NYC before the room I was renting in Brooklyn was ready. I'd say the Gershwin is probably your best bet. And its design is cool, if you're into that.

Oh, also, there's a ton of sex shops and porno booths in Chelsea, so if you're into that, you'll be close.

If you think hotels are too expensive look into hostels - the Chelsea star was full of KATG fans the first year I went.

It's actually quite fun to meet the other strangers in your room, it's safe if you put your stuff in the locker and it saves you tons of money so that should be worth sharing a bathroom and let's be honest you are not gonna sleep much anyway during KATG week.

Absolutely. Some hostels, though, only accept passports as ID, so come prepared. It sucks getting turned down a room at a hostel.
