Many of you know I was a pro dancer/teacher/studio owner.
Sadly this type of thing is all over the competition circuit, it's really unfortunate that teachers feel the need to go that low, instead of choreographing to the childrens (yes, CHILDREN) abilities, and I get the teacher's only costume books, there are some awesome costumes that cover properly. This always will disgust me, and I hope the adjudicators grew some balls and Dq'd them, but that's like writing their tests with a dreaded red pen. The parents are cowards too, but I have dealt with many many stage moms and some will do anything for that platinum score. It's not just in Jazz either, it's many forms of dance. It's sad, the people that should know better, throw their kids into this but people are crazymagoos around competition.

Costumes aside, the movements were visually striking. The mechanical almost grotesque movements the body can make were captivating. That and the skill executing them. The costumes didn't bother me, it felt appropriate to the mood of the piece.

The costumes were fitting to the mood and the piece, piece that Sr Company dancers maybe should have done, not these kids. It's also an epidemic in competitions, it's too bad these kids are getting blamed for what their teacher/studio owner has authorized, but there are tons of numbers like this - I even remember munchkins in bikini costumes dancing to purple people eater. It can be done without selling the kids out. I may have won some awards in my day. |

How old do you think they are?
To me these ladies look like they are in their early to mid-20's. (I'm talking about the first video, I haven't watched the 2nd one.) Perhaps my visual cue of their age is off? |
