Hey fellow homos! (or perhaps a more appropriate haaaaaaay is in order)

21/m/gay/MA

Glad to see that we finally have a thread to represent our tenth of the population.

so let's see, "when did you know?," "what's your type?," "top or bottom?" I think the only stereotypical gay ice breaker left is the coming out story. I think that each gay person's coming out story is interesting and unique, so lets hear it, good/bad? parents approve? who did you first tell? how did you do it? etc.

So am I. There is my contribution. If you want to know my role - let's have sex. If you want my coming out story, make sure I blow my load - men are more honest and relaxed after an orgasm.

I've had that fear sometimes too. Then again, my fantasies also include going down on a guy and/or make-out-fighting over dominance, losing and being forced head down, ass up and...

So yeah, I'm a bit more likely in that case. Now--I'll be in my bunk...

I just clicked the gay label on myspace. I feel no need to blast over a loud speaker that I like dick. If you really want to know so much about me then it's there for the reading. I could care less if people know. I'm not gonna go pull everyone aside one at a time and have a "real moment". As far as my mom is concerned, we have a silent agreement, She doesn't ask if I have a girlfriend, I won't tell her she means boyfriend.

Yea i pretty much did the same thing. I just changed my relationship status on facebook when i got my first boyfriend. I think most of my friends must have known anyways since i hadn't had a gf since 8th grade. And as for telling my parents, my mom accidentally caught me making out with my bf in our hot tub.

Some guys from my school made it a huge deal. One guy wrote a lengthy emotional note on facebook and let the whole school know. And another was the valedictorian and announced it during his graduation speech and took off his cap to reveal an upside down purple triangle pinned to the top.

Is putting that down for orientation on one's MySpace "blasting over a loud speaker?" I thought I was the only one actually reads through people's profiles.

And I'm not outragiously open over it either. If someone asks, I answer truthfully, other then that and being deep into GLBT issues and my college's GSA, that's about it.

No, it's the alternative. I don't feel the need to tell everyone so viciously that they become uncomfortable. I "revealed" it in a much more innocous way. Only for those who care to look.

Coming Out

Stephanie Freeman was the first person I ever told I was bi, my freshman year. From there, I started telling all of my old friends (I was in a new town).

Sophomore year, I decided "who am I fooling, i'm just gay" and upgraded my status, but kept it on the hush since I was still in PE, and didn't want to get jumped in the locker room, or made to change somewhere else.

Junior - Senior year I didn't care who knew. Lots of people had questions, but no one made a big deal about it.

Fast forward about 4 years, I was driving around with my mom and well... you can hear that story on the 74 hour podcast, with my mommy on it.

Fast forward 2 more years (about 3 months ago), I told my dad in an email that I was seeing a guy, and he was happy that I was finally able to be open with him. Although I'm sure me being gay still probably disgusts him.

The first specific person I told was Rebecca Didn't-Get-A-Last-Name I was sitting next to her on a charter bus. I was 12 and headed to NYC for the first time on my own. O'kay, not really on my own but my school didn't expect so many people to be going so three other kids and I were put on a public charter bus. I was sitting all alone in the front while the other three were at the back. Rebecca was really cool, so when she asked. I answered her honestly. She said she could tell so I just never tried to hide it or play it down again. Patrice reminds me alot of Rebecca, maybe that's why I like her so much.
