Help please! Need new Torrent site. Demonoid is now...
 

...closed to Canadians. There are lots of Torrent sites...but most seem badly organized, hard to use, small list, full of popups, whatever. Demonoid was super...but they got a cease & desist letter from the Canadian Recording Industry Association.

I'm on a number of boards...but this is the only one I can think of where the folks are cool enough to ask this.

At Demonoid, I grabbed TV shows & movies, audiobooks, Old Time Radio sets, programs, etc.

And if a pass or invitation is needed, maybe I could get it from you by PM?

Sigh - I miss Demonoid. That was my baby. It's down fully, for everyone - Canadians, Japs and Jews alike.

ThePirateBay isn't bad, neither is Mininova, Isohunt is a good "all around" engine, etc.

I miss the community on Demonoid, I knew if something was bullshit, or the quality of the release, if it was a mislabled cam, etc. Mininova and TPB aren't bad, but they don't have that same feel. TVTorrents is good for TV shows, it's pretty clean and has good stuff (PM me)

I think Demonoid will be back to some degree some day. If you go to Demonoid now, you can visit their forums. If anything changes or happens, it'll be posted there.

Good luck, it sucks - but just remember there are alternatives.

I took a quick scan of it. Looks pretty good. TV shows, books & audiobooks were pretty extensive. Tried keyword "podcasting", but didn't get much. Movies list seemed mix of various languages.

Didn't try a dl. (My pc died; snazzy new one won't be in til Wednesday; I'm on a craptop til then with no torrent client.)

Thanks for such a quick response. I didn't know if anyone would notice or reply...and there was the first one in, like, 15 minutes!

Andsoitgoes: yeah, I'd really like to find one with the usability, look & feel of Demonoid. Easy searches, categories broken down, good details & feedback on each files...

I mostly use mininova.org and thepriatebay.org
However if I need something obscure torrentportal.com has it a lot of times. You have to use the advanced search though, basic search is crappy.

Torrentz is basically a search engine for torrent sties. It's pretty useful. And I know it was already said once. And as for TorrentSpy, I just used that first, and it's not a bad site at all. I like its advanced search options.

Angelz right. This site amalgamates (sp?) like mininova, piratebay, demoniod, and like 17 other sites. It's awesome. It even lists when it needs a password (which sucks btw!)

Anyway the site rocks. It puts all the main torrent sites together.

Wondering, tho...the search sites: if they get a result on Demonoid and I ask for it, does that bypass the "No Canucks" dealio? I'm guessing not, since someone mentioned that one "even lets you know if pw is required". Demonoid does...and if I give mine, it'd probably say "Didn't we already tell you to go away?"

mininova.org and isohunt are great sites, the only thing is that they don't host the files, just list them. Be sure to check that the tracker it's listing isn't Demonoid or else it's still going to be useless.

No - Demonoid torrents that are still around still work, always have - it was just the site that was blocked. No pwd, they never blocked like that. Remember the only torrents there are old ones from before the site died.

And remember, Demonoid is dead, DEAD DEAD. To US, Can, the whole bloody world. Maybe one day it'll be back up? Who knows, go to the site and check the forums there. I'm sure there are tons of suggestions.
