The God Helmet

I thought this was a really interesting experiment, especially since it supports my belief of why people feel so strongly about religious experiences.

It does make sense being as how radio waves and other types of interference envelope all around us all the time.

The girl is being administered to a controlled test of magnetic waves in order to influence particular cells in the brain. She can't really "feel" anything but her sensory perceptions tell her that she is experiencing some kind of unique sensation.

The test is aimed to explore how humans have come to interpret similar sensations as being an omnipotent being "talking" to them. It's like having a psychedelic experience without the aid of drugs; they have some strange experiences and believe that a higher power is talking to them. This can then be relayed to the cycle of events ("He has a plan, this happened for a reason," etc.). The devout would declare the occurrence of events as being part of a larger plan and thus it can be argued that whatever occurs is the result of the control of a god.

I got what the experiment was doing, just not what the guy was trying to prove...or "test."

Just seemed like a bit of a waste of time.

neuroscientist, receives grant money to study the structures and functions of the brain, creates helmet to administer electromagnetic waves to specific zones, manifests "spiritual experience". DudeEMETIB views report, becomes more self aware, humanity inches closer to divinity and galactic relevance.

Perhaps you should become a neuroscientist.
