There are plenty of people who get by on half of the $$$ you're getting, even less. After your bankruptcy, you only owe govt taxes. Bankruptcy wipes everything else out (at least in Oregon).

Bankruptcy is federal, not state. There are also 2 kinds - one to wipe out debt and one to reorganize so you can repay debtors. Depends on what you want and what you can qualify for.

Anyway, I live on $229 a week in unemployment, and I just paid off 2 credit cards. There are people who make do, and people who bitch about it. I guess he could always just commit some terrible crime and guarantee himself three hots and a cot for a good long time.
