rewatched The Shining a couple of weeks ago. It was dope, although Shelly Duvall actually creeped me out with her Olive Oil looking face more than Nicholson did.
Anything with zombies is alright in my book. I'm currently in the planning stages of the Jacksonville Zombie Survival Guide zine. |

I have to say that one of the best horror flicks I've ever seen is the original 1960s The Haunting. It is in B&W and the kind of scary movie where you turn off the lights and just let yourself get into it. No special effects. It is all done with great lighting and sound.
My favorite more traditional horror flicks are Halloween 1&2,Night of the Living Dead, the TV remake of the Shining (much better IMO), Stir of Echos was good, What Lies Beneath was suprisingly scary, Children of the Corn, the Dawn of the Dead remake (though I hate running zombies), Dusk til Dawn, Event Horizon, Alien. Halloween is probably the one that still gets me scared if I watch it alone. Night of the Living Dead use to terrify me as I grew up in suburban Pittsburgh where it was set. Random Trivia, Bill Cardill was the acutal report from WPXI (actual station) in Pittsburgh that was reporting on the events that added to the realness/scariness of seeing it as a pre-teen youth.

I too am a huge horror fan. Whenever I try to think of my favorites one that always comes to mind is Calvaire. It's a fantastic french film in a similar style to Texas Chainsaw Massacre but instead of over the top gore it's stylized like Haute Tension, Inside, or Frontier(Visceral realistic gore mixed with bizarre/creepy scenes topped with amazing cinematography).
