How do I make a 'podcast playlist' for iPod?

I want to make a playlist for all unheard podcasts I have. I subscribe to half a dozen or so and want to listen to all the new casts for each one straight through. The iPod wants to simply keep repeating the same podcast over and over.

I know it's not that much work to manually start the next episode but some of the podcasts are only a few minutes long so it's hard to stop working and change the track. Plus, the boss frowns on seeing people 'playing with their phones' when they should be working.

Any tricks to get this to work automatically using a smart playlist?

Thanks

If you retrieve podcasts through iTunes, they're automatically categorized as such and put in the "Podcasts" section (as opposed to "music," "video," etc.).

If you use another management software (for example, SharePod, which I use), you can change the "type" of the file through its properties (where you can alter the title, artist, year, etc.) to "podcast" and the iPod will automatically put it in the "Podcasts" section.

Or through both pieces of software, you can just create a new playlist and dump all of your podcast files into that. You navigate to "Music>Playlists>[playlist name]" on your iPod and start playing a file and it will automatically go to the next (depending on how you named them).

Hopefully some of that made sense or related to what you're talking about.

Okay - I tried this on one of the short episode podcasts and this works. I feel so stupid now. I could have sworn that I tried this in the past and it did not work. It would still repeat the same podcast.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Ipod will only play a podcast playlist when it is in 'play in order' mode, or whatever it's called-- the one that's not shuffle songs or shuffle albums. It's annoying, but that's how it goes.
