Honestly, the only thing worth having in this update is the camera.

I used to own a treo, I never used the internet much on it at all so the unlimited seemed wasted. Now I have unlimited data plan with the 3G that I use. I still have left over rollover minutes from my previous plan ( I was on AT&T). So I know I can get the 450 a month daytime and unlimited Night/weekends I'm set. Also, my family is on AT&T, our coverage here is good. I've always like AT&T, I prefer my Iphone because I use it as an internet device more than I do a phone. Although I did get a kick out of the digs Apple was making about the amount of traffic due to the unlimited data plan, as you don't have to worry about monitoring my data usage.

I'd like to--whether I'd be able to actually afford one is another matter entirely.

I currently have an 8GB 3G and I'm not able to upgrade at the reduced price until Jan of 2010. Think I'll stick with what I have now and enjoy the new 3.0 firmware features before dropping any money on the new hardware. It does look really nice though... I'd love to be able to take some video that doesn't look like total shit.

You'll only be about five months from the new version by then too.

So true. I'm pretty damn happy with what I have right now though... I don't see the fanboy obsession with shit like the forward-facing camera and all that. Pointless. Quite a lot can be upgraded on these damn things with just the software and I'm fine with that.

so the 1mp upgrade from 2mp to 3.2mp is enough for you? i have a 16gb 4g that is full of music, podcasts, and apps. one of the few things i would upgrade for is the 32gb.

heres a comparision chart if you have a 3g. and no, i wont be upgrading. $70 for tethering? meh. $399 for upgrade? no thanks.

maybe next year when my contract expires they'll have a 4g type-r with slide out keyboard and 3d chip.

I'll be getting one when the contract on my current phone runs out, which is in about 6 months. There's probably a waiting list for the iPhone so by 6 months I may be able to get it pretty snappy when the hype calms a bit
