iTunes 9 requires you to install Safari...again
It's bad enough that Apple auto installed Safari on PCs without even telling people when they force bundled it with iTunes auto updates. I get that they are a big evil corporation, and unlike micro$oft, they aren't saving half a million lives a year in Africa, but WTF.
So I installed iTunes 9 on my mac, and went to go spend some money at the iTunes store on some Solex albums and they force me to download and install the latest version of safari, or they won't let me go to the iTunes store. I don't use safari, I don't want safari, why do I need it installed this time? I assume they will also want me to download the 40 to 180 meg monthly updates, too, or they will take away my music. All, I am guessing, so they can pretend they have some fictionally large share of the browser market to keep stock prices on the rise and maintain a high profit margin. Fuck Apple, this is shit. Oh, and I just bought a new hard drive for my macbook, the last one failed a few days ago. Second Mac, 2nd drive on each, there was a class action lawsuit over the BS video card on the last one, the magsafe adapters on this one catch fire all over the place(I replaced mine, which was getting hot enough to blister skin). Can anyone tell me why they require every computer to have safari installed? It's their second major attempt to force it on people, who didn't need it last time either. Meh. /end rant

I just pulled Safari off of my dock and made firefox the default. The newest firefox, that came with snow leopard, is a piece of shit. Only install it if you like staring at the beachball.

Are you saying you can access the iTunes store with iTunes 9 and without the latest version of Safari installed? Mac or PC? |

I just want to understand how this is different that the alleged monopolistic activities of Microsoft embedding IE into operating systems. From their own press conference yesterday, they have 73% of the MP3 player market and are now demonstrating how they are using that success to force an additional product on users just like the IE Windows debate.
