v1.5 is taking some time cause i'm rewriting the episode player and every time i test it i end up listening to that episode.. it's like telling a fat person to sculpt something out of delicious chocolate, and expecting them not to keep eating it. *no offense fatties, or sculptors

ok, well i feel pretty confident about v1.5, but i'd like to get a bit of feedback and make sure it works on different operating systems. i also want to keep an eye out for database issues; if you're upgrading(specifically the first run after the upgrade{i don't think this thought can be narrowed down any further(oh snap...)})

with that said i'm putting up a release candidate here: http://apps.chalk-it-out.com/KATG/KATG-App-v1.5rc.air. just download the file and open it to install/update it.
note:If you don't already have AIR installed this method won't install it automatically.

if you want a list of updates since v1.4 just pm me and i'll send you a copy until it's official.

Trying it out now, I can't seem to figure out how to restore it once in minimizes. Clicking the systray icon makes it do an animation but it never comes to the front again. It seems to be staying off the task bar now. Not sure if that was intentional.

Haven't found other problems yet; the new "episodes" section is nice and works great so far.

This is in Vista BTW, haven't tried Linux yet.

ok i believe minimize to tray is fixed now, try downloading the rc again.

the main/mini mode window should only be in the system tray, the chat/web windows should now show in the taskbar while they're open.

Bringing it back from minimize seems to work now. Noticed a couple more things:

1. Clicking the systray doesn't bring the main window to front if it's behind other windows (but not minimized -- just while it's behind stuff).

2. Clicking an episode multiple times can cause it to play multiple times. Did this on accident with one of the earlier shows where the audio doesn't come in right away and I had the same track playing over top of itself like 4 times, hah.

I put up 1.5, as usual when you open it up again you'll get a message to update, otherwise just go to the app site and install it. I also put up some new screenshots attached to the beginning of this thread.

Thanks Sokkratez you really helped out there, clicking the system tray should bring the main window to the front now, and i fixed the multiple episodes playing problem. There is a 1.3 second delay when you load a new episode cause otherwise it stutters whie it's being loaded into memory... when will computers learn.

anyway just a heads up since I moved the preferences file your preferences will be reset.. sorrriez

• re-wrote the Episode player, instead of streaming episodes, you can now download episodes and play them when you want, like an aggregator/podcast player.
  • episode files(mp3 and flv) are stored in your user folder(/KATG Desktop)
• Moved the preferences file to user folder as well, so each person on your computer can have different settings, episodes, etc.
• Improved memory management.
• [windows/linux] app now lives in the system tray(by the clock), instead of the taskbar including minimizing to tray

Just in time for the holiday season, v1.6 is done and up. New features of note include Keith's twitter, if there's a link in a tweet, click to view it in the integrated browser. I added the 74 hour podcast, episode streaming, and pdf support to the Episodes player, and right clicking on the ? at the top will take you to a help page were i'll put up all the not so obvious features and general help
