Man Charged w/ Careless Driving After Bragging on Social Network

I love this story....

Quote:
VAUGHAN, Ont. - Police said a BMW driver who bragged about his speeding on a social networking site was later convicted on careless driving charges.

York Regional Police said Vladimir Rigenco, 19, of Vaughan, Ont., is banned from driving for six months and sentenced to 12 months probation after he entered a guilty plea.

He must also complete a remedial driving program and pay a fine of $1,000.

Police said a U.S. man contacted officers in early April about a social networking website for BMW fans, where a suspect had posted a message saying he drove his car 100 kilometres an hour over the speed limit in Vaughan.

The online community reacted to the post and urged the driver to slow down and be more cautious.

On April 16, officers arrested and charged Rigenco in connection with the careless driving incident.

I can't imagine boasting on Facebook counts as evidence.

Keith always says how people, especially rappers, boast about their crimes and no one does anything. I think if you say you did something, you should be charged as though you did (with a few exceptions of course... murder for example).

Don't need any once he pleads guilty.
Vaughan's city motto is "The City Above Toronto". They don't have the brightest bulbs in the box. He probably fessed up right away.

Wasn't facebook either, was likely some BMW message board.

You realize when rappers say they did shit they are lying right. Its like being an actor should we go arrest Anthony Hopkins because he said he ate someones liver in a movie? The issue is not that rappers say they did crimes its the fact that people believe they are telling the truth even though any five year old knows whats on TV is not real.

so the people who wrote this song are guilty?

Social networking sites are very advantageous in so many ways but in some other ways, these also have disadvantages that are really dangerous for any individual. Maybe that's why many are in contrast with the site. In fact, there is the so-called "Facebook Felony" regulation that was discussed in Congress before September 14th that was, in many ways, concerning. George Washington University law professor Orin Kerr outlined the possible consequences in a Wall Street Journal op-ed. Facebook Felony bill amended; lying online not felonious. Changes to the bill in Congress have obliterated that possibility, but legislators fortifying laws against computer fraud is still in front of Congress.
