If I have a table view and the last cell is LOAD MORE EPISODES and you press that to load additional episodes and it takes 1 second for each 10 episodes how many episodes should be polled for 1 button press? I'm thinking 100.

Might make a tab of user setting when I put back the twitter. I started with 25 and it's nice and snappy but getting to early shows is a pain in the ass.

I would still need to add an interface for selecting that stuff.

EDIT: Just realized what you meant. (DUMB) Maybe, but putting that stuff in settings seems like most people would miss it completely.

True, but it is much quicker than doing it in interface builder and linking everything up...

I'll try it and see how it works.

As an aside the 1 second for 10 shows is on edge, it's much faster on 3g or wifi. (On wifi it's less than 3 seconds to do 100)

I vote fifty. Five seconds is just about tolerable for load times in anything - ten seems like an age.

EDIT: Oh, for EDGE? I think a quick straw poll on who has an EDGE-only phone and who has a 3G phone might bring the answer to that. I think a user setting for that might work - or if the app could detect what kind of network connection you're using and load the appropriate amount. If that's even possible.

ideally you would have 3 user changeable settings, one for edge, one for wifi, and one for 3g. then a 4th setting called 'adapt' which would automatically adjust based on the time it took last time to fetch the list, and the amount the user shook the phone while waiting. i will happily write frustration algorithm needed.

when 3.0 hits and you can run stuff in the background(i think that's right) we can adapt the algorithm to sense roaring laughter, which will launch the donate page, or again frustration or glee which will launch the forum thread for that episode.
