Make sure YOU HAVE PROPER BACKUPS BEFORE YOU INSTALL 3.0.
Grundle has been having some trouble and I don't want anyone else to get their phone hosed up.
(we got him all squared away, but still don't do it to yourself)

Sync your phone at minimum and if possible sync your contacts, email pictures etc somewhere outside of itunes. Outlook or whatever you use.


If you do bork your phone then use this sweet piece of kungfu on a mac to extract your old backups

As an aside, if you click the encrypt backups checkbox in iTunes, you are dumb and deserve to lose all your shit.

I synced just before upgrading. I think my mistake was trying to restore my 2.2 backup to the newly installed 3.0. My suggestion is make it a new phone if you upgrade.

I got all the data back in the end but i'll have to enter it manually. (Not THAT big a deal.)

I will be using Google to sync contacts from now on

edit: oh, and jungle disk will now be backing up the backup folder so i can go back in time.

If apple doesn't get their shit together on push by the end of today I'm going to turn it in on friday without push support.

The servers been down totally randomly for days and if you want to switch from the dev server to the production server you actually have to wipe and restore your phone and set it up as a new phone. Fuck that noise, hopefully they'll post some info the forums, right now all the data is about beta 5.

My advice, submit it without push. Since it is new it is going to be shaky at first and will probably take longer then 2 days to resolve. You can always update.

That's basically where I am. I've had working code that is implemented against the reference as precisely as I can, but delivery is wildly unreliable and I'm not confident it will get better by thursday night and I'm not comfortable submitting the app without properly testing notifications.

Can anyone who is upgrading to 3.0 early PM me or post, I am going to post something that is at least 99% if not the final product and I'd like to get some feedback about performance and QA.
