In the future, it would be really sweet to be able to pre-download past shows so you could download 3-4 while you're on wifi and listen to them later in and out of cell coverage. That would probably help battery life and be useful for touch users too.

You know that you can do that through iTunes (on the phone). If you used iTunes Store (Mac / PC) to subscribe to the podcast you can just click on More Episodes and download them directly into the iPod App.
