Are lenovo desktops any good?
Thinking about getting a lenovo desktop.
I've heard lenovo laptops are pretty well put together and am hoping for the same care and craftsmanship in a desktop. Anyone have one? Any good? What do you think of lenovo computers in general? Sorry guys, I wasn't clear. All I want is the computer to be lovingly built - I don't want a hardware failure. I'm not trying to save money or play games. I want a midrange computer which wont have a hardware fault - and if it does I want to be able to make a complaint and get a refund. Potential choice Last edited by gin_web; 12-19-2010 at 05:26 AM. |

Lenovo is what used to be IBM after it was spun off to a Chinese manufacturer, from what I hear the quality is good but the prices are not the greatest values.

If you really want to find a good cheap one, I'd suggest looking for one on newegg.com. They have some ridiculous deals there. |

As for building your own, I dont know what you guys buy but I tried to put together a whole sys at newegg and I cant beat Dell's pricing. It's bena while since I built a system ~8yrs but mine were always louder than Dell or HP systems. |

I second getting a nerd to build you one. You'll get better hardware for less.
But to any potential nerd taking on this project: don't. Unless you want OP to come blame you every time his computer crashes. |

You really have to search for the parts, I spent a long time looking. At least 5 hours total. EDIT: That's when you bring in the maintenance charge, XD Last edited by Malcolm Is Moore; 12-18-2010 at 11:38 PM. |

You will run into some issues if you just want to build a basic net-surfing PC versus buying one from Dell or HP or something. In that situation the pre-built machine may be way cheaper. But if you want to upgrade to any premium parts or build a high performance or gaming computer, you're way better off building yourself.
Case in point, I spent about $1400 on my current computer, which I built over two years ago now, and it still runs great (save for the PSU that I skimped on during the original build, which died on me about 9 months ago). At the time, a comparable pre-built machine would have cost me well over $2000.
