I only use LinkedIn for my professional contacts. In this day and age where everyone and everything is searchable, I prefer to use my nickname for forumsing and all the other weird shit I do on the internet.
I have several friends that have lost jobs or potential jobs because they used their real names or something else identifyable when posting questionable or illegal things on the internet. Employers do all kinds of searches for that kind of stuff. Just a word of caution. |

Seconding DaHonay....
LinkedIn is based on real names - though I think it would be funny to be linked to things called "The Grundle" "SappyPeppers" "Lord of the Cock Rings" and the like along with all my stodgy business contacts it might defeat the purpose of linkedin. |

The only links between my real name and my forums name are the people that I've choosen to link to here or who I've chosen to share that information with. My forums name is not on my linked in profile.

That's the point. I wouldn't. LinkedIn is awfully open with work and education history and the like. I certainly wouldn't want ANY cross pollination. It would be detrimental career wise but more so forums-wise! It's not that bad - at least I never worked for PodShow/Mevio!
