I am currently downloading the 74 hour podcast via the torrent, thanks a lot for hosting it!

Now I am wondering, if there is a way to make iTunes believe that this file is a podcast so it bookmarks the exact time where I last stopped listening?
I definitely won't be able to listen to it at once, so it would be nice if the bookmarking feature could be enabled.

Correct me if I am wrong, but couldn't someone just host a RSS-feed on his or her webspace, which doesn't link to an mp3-file on the internet but instead on a file on your local computer, such as D:\Downloads\74hourpodcast.mp3 so that you just had to put the file you already downloaded into that folder and iTunes could recognize it as a podcast?

Right click on the file in iTunes > Select "Get Info" > Select "Options" Tab > Check "Remember Playback Position" Box > Select "OK"

Already did. Works perfectly. All you need to do is follow Gumby's directions about "Remember Playback Position" and you won't have a single problem (at least I haven't had one yet).

You'll also want to select "Skip when shuffling" while you're at it
