The Miscarriage excuse

From show 1304 Pat Dixon suggests to Chemda and Carmen to throw out the "I've had a miscarriage" line to deflect the "When are you going to have a baby" question.

Coming from a woman who has had miscarriages I can say it is remarkable how quickly people drop the subject of pregnancy when you drop the M bomb. It's so taboo, people don't know what to say to you so they just avoid the whole thing. In my case it was good because I didn't want to talk about it anyway, in the case of someone trying to throw the scent off it's the perfect solution.

You can also throw the infertility word out there...that works too.

The ONLY glitch in this plan is that women who have gone through miscarriage or infertility will want to talk about their experience so be prepared for that, otherwise it's foolproof.

It's worked for me! Though I've only used it to deflect people who ask me when I'm having kids... it never occurred to me to use it to shut people up about their pregnancy/breastfeeding/babies/kids. Or you could just get one of those "Ask Me About My Abortion" t-shirts and wear it at the ready.

I want to wear one of those, then when I get yelled at on the street (which I guarantee will happen) I'll tell them I'm an abortion survivor. Then I'll smile, drool on myself, and skip away.

It's true.

Since mine (and getting sick) people stopped asking.

To be honest the only good thing about the mc's for me was the questions stopped...that was bliss. Then once I had the baby the questions literally started up when my boy was about a month old, "so, are you going to have a second?" OMFG, give me a break....it's never ends until you start menopause.

Yeah, now I get how much of a failure I am instead. I just turned 37, my aunt hit full menopause when she was 37.

I hope I am like that.
