I've been watching a lot of Mad Men with my mom since it's been streaming on Netflix, and my thoughts on whether Pete x Peggy will ever happen was interrupted when my mom's 36 year old boyfriend walks into the room.

This is dialogue that actually took place.

BF: That show looks interesting

Mom: It is

BF: Can't believe you like old stuff, and that old stuff is on Netflix

Mom: What do you mean?

BF: This show is from the 1960's right?

Me: No.... the show takes place in the 1960's.... this show is still going on

BF: Oh I was confused because everything in it looks old

I almost have the money saved up to get the fuck out of here I can't take it anymore. My mom is with this fucking product of inbreding just because she's too lazy to end the relationship. I don't think the crisp camera angles from Mad Men were used in the 1960's.... oh yeah not to mention it wouldn't be in fucking color

My 78 year old grandma's 50 year old boyfriend is similarly retarded. I was annoyed at first, but my dad set me straight. He was like "she's done being a mom to your mom, your uncle and you, she's finally free of her shitbag husband. However she wants to spend her time is up to her." And I was like, oh yeah.

But on the line of hilarious conversations with idiot dudes banging your mom, this is a real convo that I had with him, my grandma and my grandma's best friend, who is in her 80s.

[Grandma, Grandma BFF and I are eating lunch in the dining room, deep in conversation when Dummy BF comes in]

Dummy BF: So, it's 4th of July, you guys going to get some fireworks?

[we stare at him, obviously we're not the firework kind]

Dummy BF: I'm going to get some. I'm going down the street and I'm going to buy, like 40 piccolo petes. You know why?

[Silence.. finally one of us asks why]

Dummy BF: Because, if you tie 40 piccolo petes together and light 'em all at once, that's a sound you'll never hear again... until you get, like, 40 more piccolo petes.

[Long silence]

Grandma BFF: I don't know why you'd want to go and do that. [continues eating lunch]

Well, it could have been in colour in the '60s, depending on when it was made and by whom, but yeah, picture quality not the same.

Maybe his vision just sucks, so he can't really tell the difference.

Also, I guess you'd be the best judge of your mom's boyfriend's intelligence, but I don't think it's so dumb to glance at a show and think it was produced in the era in which it is set. Now, if he was watching the show with you guys (i.e. he saw a few episodes), okay.
