I find that in most cases it seems cliched, but there are a few times when narration can really help move a story alone. Sometimes the narration tells the real story and gives the true meaning while the actual dialogues just push the plot forward.

inner homologues are interesting.

Write two versions, one with it, and one without. Or hire seven writers to do it for you.

According to the douche in "Adaptation" it is a bad idea.

I like it, not prefer it because it has to be done correctly, but I cannot define "correctly." Don't over do it or make it cheesy. No obvious observations. Use it to convey thoughts and not the setting or plot.

this is from like the beginning on this year.

in case anyone is wondering i ditched narration and inner monologue. then i ditched the entire project. half a rough draft is still sitting on my desk. maybe i'll finish it, but probably not.

i am sober now though....so i have a lot of free time.

Shakespeare uses character monologues and sometimes direct audience address as part of his plays and I don't hear a lot of criticism of his work in the literary / drama world. The HBO series "Deadwood" uses Shakespearean constructs and rhythm, check it out.
