Oh...and I am totes excited about this McLaren wing. The great part of it is that no one can copy it this season without a lot of hassle, because it involves a vent in the main tub....which the teams aren't allowed to change after the season starts. I expect you'll see a lot of frantic teams getting a hole and vent installed in their tubs before Sunday so they can add on the rest of the concept later in the season.

ty for bones Jeremy regularly throws me, especially when I whine a 'lil

so they plug a hole in the cockpit with their knee and changes the aero profile? . . wow

Yeah...it's called a fluidic valve. There are no moving marts. It's basically just a hole that the driver puts his left knee over and it channels air from the small snorkel in from of the driver through the shark fin to a slot on the bottom/back of the rear wing. They activate it on the high speed sections to lessen the low pressure vortex under the rear wing and increase their top speed by up to 10kph. When the knee is not covering the hole air is directed into the drivers capsule for cooling.

That is a pretty fucking cool idea.

I've been trying to get back into liking F1 last year but didn't quite manage - lets see what this year brings. I need a favourite driver by the time they come to Europe otherwise its not interesting enough to follow along. Ideas?
