and it's a blast.
Since I was a little boy reading about F1 in Road&Track, I don't think I could be "disappointed" by a race.
I am disappointed that Comcast wants to wring even more money out of me to get SPEED HD but fuck them.
I made a commitment to go the Montreal but I'm getting cold feet (read ready to puss out).
So, I guess I need a passport. I don't want to drive my vehicle because I've heard stories. I'm thinking I could rent a car and drive or take a bus from Albany. Buy the SRO ticket.

Our sports network, TSN, got the Canadian rights away from Speedvision a couple of years ago. The TSN team are clueless. The switching and commercial breaks are equally clueless.

I watched/listened to Steve Matchett, Bob Varsha and David Hobbs for years and loved the depth of their knowledge and ability to decipher the in-race strategies. Sam Posey was cool too. edit <see pic above> ^^^^^ Thanks Dead. ( btw - get yer passport, drive the car up and park it. Our Metro is all you need. What are you hearing? Ever driven in Boston? Montreal is a piece of cake after that.)

The TSN goofs I listen to somehow mangle very single race. And I miss Speedvisions pre-race coverage with all the latest gossip and news.

Interesting tidbit - Juan Fangio had an " F Duct" in his 1950's cars. It blew air into a supercharger though - not across the rear wing. Neat. Plus ca change.

And if you're a real F1 fan you have read both of Steve Matchetts books. Wicked stories!

Anyone who wants to get drunk this weekend and watch F1 in NYC come join me.

Vertigo Bar (the same place as the April 15th lunch)

354 3rd Ave @ 26th Street

7:30am pre-race start. I aim to be drunk by the time the lights turn green.

There will be lots of F1 fans there. (over 100) We can make fun of the Ferrari douches and wonder why the Hispania fans aren't out in force.

J, did anyone join you?
I did the passport thing, should be ready in time.
I contacted a friend in Montreal, he replied once but haven't heard from him since.
Worst case I'd be driving up alone race day, getting an SRO ticket, driving home. Not inspired . .

No one joined me last weekend...except for the 50 non-KATGers there. Same place and time this weekend for Monaco.

No details have yet emerged about the track layout, or whereabouts in Austin the venue will be built.
