Official 2012 KATG Week fan meetups

This also is posted in the meetups section of the forums, but I know some people don't go there and it's big enough news to post here too. Enjoy.

The time has come! It is KATG Week. Here are the pre-event fan meetups Thursday through Sunday. These gatherings are a great way to start the night of fun and meet new and old friends.

So, come on out and get the party started!

*IMPORTANT: Remember, have a blast but don't get all drunk during the pre-party before the night's event. If you do, you won't be let in by the night's venue, and nobody wants to miss out on that. Get drunk at the event.

Thursday, April 12 - KATG Rockband at Creek in the Cave
Meetup:Alewife Queens
5-14 51st Ave
Long Island City, NY 11101
START: 6 p.m.

Alewife Queens has some space, food and plenty of drinks and beers are offered. A good spot to start the week.

But let's not forget about throwing some extra business to The Creek & The Cave. It does a lot for KATG and local comedy, so be sure to grab a drink or some food there before the night's event starts.

Friday, April 13 - KATG Jeopardy at Bowery Poetry Club
Meetup: Nice Guy Eddie's
5 Avenue A
New York, NY 10009
START: 7:30 p.m.

Down the street from Bowery Poetry Club, this is the quintessential KATG spot. It's sort of tradition to stop in here at least once.

Points of interest just across the street are Katz's Delicatessen and Ray's Pizza, home of the infamous Shoogbear-Keith suplex. There's also a few interesting bars right around the corner.

Saturday, April 14 - What's My Name live show
Meetup: The Fat Black Pussycat
130 W. 3rd Street
New York, NY
START: 5 p.m.

This is the bar directly above The Village Underground where the night's event will be.

Sunday, April 15 - KATG Flash Mob
Meetup: Phoenix bar
447 E. 13th St (corner of ave A)
START: 2 p.m.

An mp3 will be emailed a day before this event with more info on the flash mob. At this meetup, we will get our T-shirts and have a chance to hang out and grab a drink or two before we flash and mob.

Sunday, April 15 - Keith Malley's annual stand-up extravaganza
Meetup: Union Hall
702 Union Street
Brooklyn, NY 11215
START: 5 p.m.

This place is a cool space. Solid food menu and good drinks. Word is it can get a little crowded on the weekend, but KATGers will own it and be out early for the big comedy show! And make sure to laugh at all my jokes.

NEW YORK METRO TRANSPORTATION UPDATE FOR SUNDAYS SHOW!

Sorry computer shutdown randomly.

No Manhattan bound R train service from 36th st to Atlantic St from Friday night to Monday morning.

That means the Union St R train back to Manhattan on Sunday after the show will not operate. Your best bet is to walk back up to Atlantic Terminal for service. It's only about 10 blocks away, or take a cab.

I'll be at the show, so I can direct anyone to where they need to be.

I should also clarify that the R train will take you from Manhattan to the Union St station, so getting to the show is easy. It just won't make the return stop.

My husband is on the way.

I'm at home just a stones throw away in Astoria chilling with our 3 month old.

Finally living in NYC during KATG week and having an infant, that's gotta be the definition of irony. She's totally cute though, so it's cool.

We might come watch the flashmob, so I don't feel totally left out.

1, 2, 3 are under construction this weekend, not sure what stops though.

You should probably check our local subways, there's pretty much always construction going on the weekends.
